Starting tomorrow, Texas smokers will begin paying more to light up.

During this year's third special session, the Texas Legislature passed House Bills 5 and 2, which respectively increased the excise tax on cigarettes and tobacco products other than cigars and then mandated the allocation of the revenues from the tax increase to the property tax relief fund.
