"Seven Bastards"
Today we are often brought to ask ourselves: is it possible that there exists an “Elite”, made up of a primitive, cunning minority, greedy for power, who are able to subjugate a naïve world to take advantage of its wealth? If the answer is yes, whoever accepts the situation passively damaging the entire community.
The cartel of cigarette producers penetrated the world market with contraband, and has chemically manipulated their cigarettes to increase the addiction of smokers.
Now Big Tobacco is eliminating the competition by buying up all the rival companies and destroying those little makers who do not play their game. Big Tobacco’s ultimate objective is the monopoly of the world market.
Unfortunately, in spite of the successful books and films on the crimes of these companies, up to today society has produced only sterile expressions of protest, like a disorganized mass unable to react.
But tomorrow, when informing and safeguarding the consumers become more important, certain ways of doing business will be unacceptable in modern democracies, and informed consumers will refuse to be manipulated. The end of the “Bastards” is certain.
Test – Discover what kind of Coglione* you are
Big Tobacco does whatever it wants all over the world. And what we are really afraid of is that perhaps what allows this obscene state of affairs to continue may not be just secret political accords, nor Mafia intimidation and perhaps not even bribery.
It might be an example of a sort of madness that is hard to explain rationally, a sort of virus that can infect and paralyse entire countries starting right from their top levels, a madness that shrewd minds know how to exploit with innate skill.
* Coglione is a very vulgar term, today commonly used in Italy. It has been “cleared through customs” by Silvio Berlusconi during the 2006 electoral campaign.
